I am pretty neutral to anything (so score that a 5), but HATE gala dinners. If you want to get cohesion among the players, organize a normal good dinner with say 4-5 courses for all, including some good wines and digestives, but informal so that you can relax and can put on normal clothes. Or do it Asian style and let the food pile up in a cone shape, that is also fine.

I am not attending black tie gala dinners because I don't enjoy them.
