Are you trying to slide that speculative cube through without anyone noticing? ;) One thing I like to practice OtB before cubing is quickly going through how all my rolls play. This not only gives me a better idea of what is going on in general but alerts me to any rolls that might be problematic vis-a-vis knowing what the best play is. If there are too many where I'm not sure what the correct play is maybe I shouldn't be doubling.
