Blue is Player 1XGID=a-BB-CBCA---c-----Bcbcc---:1:-1:1:42:0:0:1:0:10 Blue to play 42 Play safe, slot, or run?
Playing safe, J = Jump [8/6 7/3], gives Blue a nice structure. He would have three builders aimed at the open 4pt, and four builders targeting the 1pt. When White enters without escaping he will have decent attacking chances.
Breaking contact is thematic. Blue is ahead in the race, and has his opponent on the roof.
R = Run [18/16 18/14] dupes 4s, so it only pays off to 44 41 21 and 11. But it does have a downside. Even though White’s other 16 entering rolls are airballs, running leaves three blots that Blue will find awkward to clean up when White enters without hitting. He’ll often be looking to tactical options (read hitting).I’ll try running.
