66 comparing with 55 gains 4 pips, but only happens 1 time in 36 shakes. In the race of this lengh 1 pip is worth about 1.5%. So 1.5*4/36 is 1/6% -- not that important. The reason of my question is because breaking from the back seems more natural to me at 1st site. In fact, if this was a speedgammon game, I would break 8 and lift my dice, thinking even if it is wrong, it should not be wrong by much. After looking at the problem for some time and going through the numbers I convinced myself that breaking 7 is better, but only after. Chase does not even mention breaking 8 pt. Is it right away so obvious to everyone, except me, that bteaking 8 pt HAS GOT TO BE inferior? So obvious its not even worth mentioning?
