So i'd say the error is around 1E-38 equity if blue made the awful bad move to pile on 3.

Seeing as how the age of the universe is something like 4 E-17 seconds, you would have to play about 1 E-21 games a second since the big bang to find a game where it made a difference.

Nice question Tim, and nice example Tom. Towards arriving at a complete answer to Tim's question ("What is the smallest possible nonzero equity difference between two checker plays in a legal backgammon position?") Ipropose we break upp the work:

1) I'll prove existance - i.e. that there is some minimum nonzero equity difference between two checker plays in a legal backgammon position.

2) Tom can find it.

3) Tim can prove it's the smallest.

Deal?
