As well, many ISP's inbound email systems will top out at 10MB. Effectively less since attachments are Base64 encoded. So I wonder how many people never even got the email. I agree they shouldn't have attached such a large file. www.yousendit.com and www.box.com services are accessible in many modern email clients now (including Thunderbird). If any file I send is over a given size it will prompt me if I want to upload the attachment to a 3rd party service and automatically put the url into an email.
