Hi,

on average blue will lose race-equity after the hit, since, as Robertie states, there are 18 return-shots after the hit. With the checker on the 24-point (Tak's variation), instead of 23, the return shots are diminished to 15. But still i wouldn't hit.

With the checker on the 24-point and the 2-point made, instead of the 3-point, the 8-point would not be a prime-point, that would make a difference, then the two plays will be close.
