Yeah, what Mike said. The eXtreme Gammon Freeze-Out that CJC runs every year ensures that the match ends by starting the cube on 2 in games 6-10, on 4 in games 11-15, etc. Otherwise it's exactly your format: first player to +5 wins, no Jacoby, no Crawford.
I worked out a MET for this format many years ago. Trailing 1-away is not as bad as usual, of course, because of no Crawford rule. In the last game of a set of 5, when the starting cube value will be doubled next game, there are some odd/even effects that give rise to rather unintuitive cube actions.
