Blue is going to leave some shots

Blue does not need to hit in order to win. His racing lead is already good enough to get most of the victories. If Blue does hit, however, his gappy board will make it very difficult to bring his other checkers home. He will probably have to leave multiple shots.

Of course, he will probably be leaving shots even if he does clear his midpoint with this 65. The difference is that owning the bar point should mean he will be leaving fewer shots.

Note as well that making the bar point this turn does not foreclose attacking next turn.

So, although I am not really sure which play is best, I would try clearing.
