When to protect your racing edge:
When the trailer has one viable way to win (attack or prime) the leader should race when the racing edge is 20% or more of their PC.
When the trailer can attack and prime the leader should race when the racing edge is 30% or more.
White's offensive structure is significantly stronger in position right. If blue were to hit, his racing edge would be 38/131 or 29%. Close! However, blue should look to add structure to his position in the form of securing an asset.
In position left, White's forward structure is less potent. Hitting here, still comes up short with a racing edge of 19%.
In both of these positions I would seek development over protecting my racing edge.
