You don't have to be a favorite to take ATS (as opposed to PC-2a where you do). Depending on how many g's & bg's, you usually have a take with about 48% chances. This is because you can only use the free drop once in a match. Once you use it, you'll be at an almost auto take score. Since the match might go on for up to 3 more games, it's better to take with 48% ATS and save your free drop for a game where you have a real bad opening sequence.
