By the way, wouldn't it be a much more interesting match if we instituted the Crawford Rule whenever the score is 2away/2away?

The problem is you have to reduce the match length to compensate for the time needed for the extra games. Would you rather play 7-point matches with the Crawford rule at 2-away/2-away or 9-point matches and no Crawford rule at 2-away/2-away?
