Transcription Payment

I think coming up with some standardized fee is not a bad one (whether $20 or something else), however I think it is really up to a person doing the transcription to decide if they will do it free or not. If they do it for free then the person who would have paid them can decide where that money should go. If I say I'd do it for free I don't want to be paid. If someone really wanted to pay me they can choose to donate/use the money as they see fit.

When transcriptions were becoming common place quite a while ago I transcribed many matches for Rynell and it never crossed my mind personally to ask for compensation. The USBGF did quietly provide me something for my contributions (not related to transcriptions). That type of thing is not required, but the kindness doesn't go unnoticed.
