Here is one that goes against the rule. I suspect what may be going on is that with more outside checkers there is a good chance to smooth naturally with the remaining outside checkers so grab the crossovers. If it was mostly situations involving 1 or 2 outside crossovers that David was looking at it might be seen as odd-even effect.
