Teaching Backgammon to childeren ?

Hi with the birth of my daughter a month ago i was thinking about at what age you can teach childeren games like backgammon ? Chess childeren start at a young age but thats more cramping positions in you head. Somebody once said around 10 years of age backgammon will be easier to learn because they then understand risk reward.

What do you guys think or know about this ?
