It seems we have to choose between the safe 8/3 and the risky 6/3 6x4.

Arguments for playing safe are:

White might leave a shot if we let him play

We could wait for future shots when our board is better

Arguments for playing bold are:

Attack one checker

It prevents white from escaping the checker or building another point in front

-----------------------------------------------------

So first of all I'm gonna figure out how much good and bad happens after 8/3:

Good: {D6,D5,D3,D2,D1,65,63,62,54,53,43,42,31}

Bad: {D4,61,52,51,41}

Somewhere in between: {64,32,21}

So a lot of good stuff happens to white when left alone.

Answer: 6/3 6x4
