It was good of those who picked up on it to realize how bad the made ace was for the taker. That variant is included below.
Astute analysis from Stick!
In order to make sure it was not the extra 2 pips White was given in Stick’s variant that made the difference, I constructed the following position. White is given 2 pips, but this time, it’s by moving his spares rather than the checkers on his 1pt. As in Stick’s variant, Blue gets no compensation. The result is still a pass.
