Too Myopic

Why is everyone just focusing on top players?

What about Bill Davis for organizing the ABT and Patrick Gibson for all of the weekly and major tournaments he has directed?

What about Walter Trice and Danny Kleinman and Jake for their books?

Kit not only for his play, but for his writing, and for Fibs, which put BG on the internet.

What about John Brussel and Peter Kalba for their contributions to the game as auctioneers and for all the humor they brought to the game?

What about Hugh Heffner for advancing the game during the golden age of backgammon?

How about Carol Cole for her contributions as a director and also for providing a source for backgammon books and material?

What about Karen Davis for all of her hard work and efforts and donations to the USBGF to make that organization what it is today?

What about Xavier for creating XG and pricing it so that it is available to the masses, as well as developing XG Mobile apps?

As for players, have we already forgotten Joe Sylvester?

I certainly hope the Hall of Fame won't just be about putting in the best players...that's a no-brainer and we already know everyone who was a great player or won a world championship or was a top Giant or won a lot of tournaments. The Hall of Fame should be something more than that, I hope, and even if it isn't this year, I hope future years will consider these people (and others) who were also important to the game.
