Most 'Coveted' Tournament

Of course, this is a highly subjective question, and when you take money out of the equation you are forcing backgammon players to try to think in a completely foreign manner.
When I think of the word "coveted" I believe that tends to mean that most people will get the most honor and most will wish they won that event. Like it or not, winning Monte Carlo and having the title of World Champion has to make that the most coveted title in Backgammon. That title sticks with you for life. I am sure people remember winners of this tournament more than who won the Nordic or any other event.
The Nordic certainly is coveted because of the prestige and competition. Today, if you look at the attendees that will be in San Antonio in a couple of weeks, in my opinion whoever wins that tournament will have made a fantastic accomplishment.
Why do people list the Merit Open in Cyprus? Again it is because there is tremendous competition (and one of the reasons there is such competition is there is so much money added).
Vegas now has the title of U.S. Open, and because of that title and the fact it gets great competition makes that a "coveted" title.
Winning the Dual-Duel in San Antonio, to me, has got to be one of the most prestigious victories you can achieve in the game, as it is a combination of PR and wins. That has to be high on the list.
Winning The Michigan Summer Champions is also high on my list because the competition is great and it is the largest tournament in the U.S.
But if you are asking for a "personal" bucket list of what 3 tournament would like to win in the future, it would be:
1) any tournament where I could be beat Carter in the finals (I beat him in the finals in Charlotte and he beat me in the finals in Peoria);
2) any tournament where they play a Swiss Movement with clocks and give free entry to all novice players and give every novice player a backgammon board and a free membership to the USBGF and the biggest trophy in the event, and;
3) any tournament that offers a calcutta, a pari-mutuel both at the beginning and before the final day, and offers fantastic and fun side events like backgammon-to-lose, poker, gin, scrabble, tennis, golf, and ping pong and is all about having a completely fun "adventure" in addition to just playing backgammon all day and night.
