Over the board, I am pretty sure I would play R = 20/15. It dupes 3, and does not risk as much racing equity as other plays.

When posed as a problem, I see many other possibilities. Hitting, H = 6/1*, dupes aces, and creates many awkward entering rolls. Leaving a blot on the 20pt, O = 13/10 6/4, risks the 9 rolls that point there, but makes many of the opponent’s other rolls hard to play safely. Coming to the 18pt, Z = 20/18 13/10, might divert the opponent from making his 5pt. If he wants to hit with a 6, he will lose his midpoint.

Not sure which of these, if any, is correct.

Mike
