I agree with your points,but keep in mind poker is definitely not an easy game to master.Anyway,it's not only about the huge money poker offer nowadays.It's mostly about safety and security,which the biggest poker sites offer.If backgammon can match the safety and security,then there will be enough players.Because some people will choose poker because they like it more,some will choose it because of the huge money,but some will choose backgammon just because they will like it more.But we are far far away from that,because the only online sites,offering backgammon are pretty fraud,and only desperate players will play there.And the live game is not much better,since expenses are high almost like in poker,and the prize money is low,and the advertisement for backgammon tournaments around definitely sucks a lot. I don't agree with that some players are doing a lot to create interest,but it's my personal opinion,it's not my point to argue about it.From my live tournament experience,most famous players are trying to get the public attention,so they can profit more at the moment.But what they don't realize is that the current moment is not so important,it is the long run that really matters.And in the long run it looks like there won't be +EV tournaments around,probably only the closed circles high roller games might stay longer.Anyway,it's my personal opinion as I said,many might not agree with it.
