Different start times and side pools

Suppose there is a masters event with 16 entrants with an afternoon and evening start time with 8 entrants each. There is a significant unfairness involving the side pools but it seems many either do not realize it or care much about it.

The evening players can see the bracket before deciding whether to join the side pool. Suppose they see that 6 in the early session entered the side pool but one of the non side pool players made it to the finals. They then have a 1/8 chance to win the SP by making the finals and if they all enter they then each have 14/8 = 175% return on it. If instead they see that a player in the side pool advanced, especially a strong player when not that many entered the SP, then not entering the SP is indicated. The source of this extra juice are the players who entered the side pool in the early session. This juice exists even if the early group does not play all the way to the finalist.

There is a simple fix: Have a separate side pool just for each group of 8 players.
