Thank you, Matt, for the compliments on the nacbracs and the Ballard/Weaver error scale. It’s also nice to see such obvious enthusiasm and willingness to work on improving your game.
In theory, there is no problem combining nacbracs and the B/W scale. However, my concern is practical -- that you would then be distancing yourself from what I believe is becoming the mainstream of communication for early game move comparisons. If others are bracketing their margins in thousandths of a point and you are writing them in quasi-hundredths, we (or you) would have to translate your posts and you would have to translate ours.
If most everyone were to tell me they prefer rounding or truncating to hundredths (which is similar to the 1 – 6 system you suggest, ignoring for now what happens above 3) – that it is sufficient to express 51S-21 [$ U3 D28 S34] as 51S-21 [$=U D3 S3] or as [$=U D2 S3], then I am content to drop the extra digit (in spite of my own preference to keep it). I seriously doubt that’s the case, though I’ll listen to all feedback and allow for the possibility.
You are welcome, of course, to adapt nacbracs and B/W to your own studies as you see fit. But, without putting too fine a point on it, I can’t currently recommend combining them in the manner you described unless you’re going to live in a cave and study by yourself : )
Happy New Year
