I would say that in general it does not make a big difference if you make a .01 error on a 2nd roll (even any 2nd roll). But understanding similar situations on the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. rolls is often useful.

If it were my personal CPU time (and I were solely interested in improving my play) I wouldn't spend any more of it on opening moves or replies and would do 3rd rolls instead. But since Stick asked for 2nd rolls that's what I answered with.
