Any tips for pip counting techniques when terrible at mental arithmetic?

I keep pip count difference from the beginning of the game and find it not difficult. Of course, in some positions it is not necessary to keep such count bcuz it is obvious. But when I need absolute pip count I use Nack's Kangaroo count and I think it is very easy to implement it. Maybe it is a little bit slower than fastest techniques but for people who are not good in mental arithmetic or don't want to bother with calculation, such method is superior.
