So 1 - (1 - 1/8)^2 = 1^2 - (1 - 1/8)^2 = [1 - (1 - 1/8)]*[1 + (1 - 1/8)] = [1/8]*[2 - 1/8] = 1/4 - 1/64 = 15/64 or ~23.4%. (You don't double count the 1/64 time that BOTH players make both finals.) And of course brute force would be an easier calculation. :)

Then what in the more realistic case that the open field is much larger than the masters field? Say 32 masters and 96 openers? (Left as an exercise to the reader.)
