Blots in your homeboard invite opp to attack elsewhere and/or play more boldly. Except for the rare case where I'm trying to play a backgame, I give high priority to covering an acepoint blot. Here where you have no anchor (and particularly with opp possessing one of his own), he has incentive to attack your back checkers whether or not you have the homeboard blot. If that happens I'd rather have a covered acepoint and open barpoint than vice-versa.
