It depends on the form of golf you are playing: matchplay, stroke play tournament, or just you against the course -- this latter is probably the most common form, at least among casual (i.e. not regular) players.

IMO there is one BIG comparison between BG and golf at the highest level (PGA Tour) which I think is seldom if ever mentioned -- complaining about bad luck. It is probably because the pros complain in code:
