What if they want to use two dice cups -- shake dice in one cup, pour dice into the second cup, shake again, then pour into the baffle box? Where do you draw the line?
Is the match clocked? If 'yes', go ahead and allow the opp burn his thinking time. If 'no' the director better get involved. I suppose I draw the line before allowing opp to run across the room, launch from the free-throw line, and slam dunk the dice into the baffle box. We could go on all day with "do you allow this, how about that?" scenarios but I don't think they help the discussion much.
If you use a dice cup, does that mean I have to use one too? Do I have to shake the dice thoroughly before pouring into the baffle box?
As far as I'm concerned, 'no' to the first part if I'm playing on a Simborg Version 3. (Answer to part 2 is then obvious.) As of now I don't think the rules go into detail as to what is allowed/required when using a baffle box.
Right now we're struggling to get baffle boxes accepted in the first place. Many consider them the unwanted, distant cousins you wish would go back to Appalachia and quit ruining the family reunion. (And yes, there is an Appalachian part of Ohio; however Stick REALLY likes cousins, but I digress.)
