Gammon Go (GG) and Gammon Save (GS) Considerations

Hi Timothy,
Thanks for the interesting questions. With regard to your questions on my statements (1), (2) and (3) I would answer as follows:
(1) Generally when GG = GS, then all plays are the same but not always. The same is true with the case GG+ = GS+, but exceptions will generally be less frequent or have smaller scale errors, it would appear to me.
(2) Comparing GG with GS instead of GG and GS also applies equally here I think.
(3) GG and GS could be used instead of GG+ and GS+ and separate algorithms formed. However, this approach is a little more likely to result in error because GG+ and GS+ are better representatives of the extremes of pre-Crawford scores, which the algorithms are mainly intended for.
The example of exceptions to (1) and (2) depending on backgammons do not appear to be a significant practical issue unless I am mistaken. Rarely are backgammon percentages significantly high until the latter stages of end games, at which point, usually the cube has been turned already. In such extreme examples, perhaps with the match leader at 2 away or 3 away playing a backgame and too good, the GG+ play will almost always be correct. Do you have any examples of an exception?
