This is a difficult position and I'm not sure what's right, but I do want to remark to scotty that it's probably best not to think of this as a "backgame." This position may have started out as a backgame for Blue, but if so, three of White's checkers have already been sent back, so we're really at the containment phase. Jarring another White checker loose and sending it back is a possibility that remains in the background, but Blue's primary goal is to exploit his superior structure and outfield control to contain White's three stragglers, which are disconnected from the rest of White's army.
