I guess I've built up a subconscious fear in these spots that I'll wind up trapped if I don't immediately come out to the 21. Instead of sort of calmly assessing the situation, which is that even after trapping myself in with Bar/23, I'm still a huge favorite, I'm totally focused on the image of my board getting squashed down to the ace point like a trash compactor. I was focused on all the bad things that can happen, and so I'd rather leave the indirect shot for white to hit off the bar than to rely on having to roll out of a combination lock to get my back checker free. I feel like The more I study the game, the less that I let the fear of bad dice control my play, but I wasn't able to do that in this position. Thanks for your thoughts.
