5 point/yes or no ?

This has little to nothing to do with timing - if White can hit and cover, or hits and you miss the return, you are far from happy yet your race lead (and White's timing) has reduced.

The issue here is whether or not making the 5, as an investment in future safety, is justified or not given the risks involved.
