I don't think you're a donkey--you are doing what you can to try to improve your game, and that's what everyone at Grid (or wherever) is presumably doing. BTW, your double in Game 3 was right by a lot, a volatile at-score decision where both the double and the take were correct by over .200, according to our little bot-friend XG. So you're doing some stuff absolutely right :0)

And regarding people with high ratings who only play other people in the same range, if you can't lay the odds, what's with that rating? I play mostly the 1800+ crowd, but I don't refuse to play outside that range. I don't normally play people under 1500, though; that game is so different from normal backgammon that it's almost a variant form.

Good luck in that Florida tournament you mentioned, when it comes around.
