Yes, what you can do is using gammon rate estimates and volatility estimates (good indicator needed) along with standard information to calculate a "customized doubling window". Then if you plug in the actual game winning chances, you'd have an "in principle" assessment of whether or not to double. If you combine this with look-ahead, you'd have a strong cube decision-making algorithm.
There might be some learning value in 'stepping through' play-by-play, to you doubling windows evolve - and for instance compare how this evolves for different scores.
