Backgammon clock rules - introduce standard, rapid and blitz?

Different time settings for side events make things interesting. That is a good thing. There is no way that the standard time setting in backgammon matches should be 4 min/12 sec. The current 2 min/12 sec standard is good. If we do make any changes to the standard time control settings, the change should make the game faster, not slower.
