There is very likely a large difference in perception of what constitutes a "Backgammon Whiz".

To the general public - any one of us that has ever played and especially won a tournament could be considered a Whiz. So any ABT winner of Open or Intermediate or mixed side event could be a "whiz" to them. So for example, to the general NY Post reader MIshyPoo is a BG whiz !!!

To the serious tournament playing crowd and bgonline reader the "Whiz" list is likely pretty short and starts with Magriel for the pre-Bot player and Mochy for the Bot-ERA players. There are likely a few other candidates as well!
