This all presupposes that he is acquitted, but I don't doubt what you say. (The general point is surely worth discussing anyway.) There are people who think others should be treated as guilty until proven innocent, and a not guilty verdict may not qualify.

I don't know about the possible legal implications of banning someone. I just believe that no TD should ban someone on the basis that they suspect a jury got it wrong; that no player should enter a tournament knowing that someone was banned for that reason; and that no one should go crying to the TD that they won't enter if that so-and-so who was acquitted is allowed to play.
