Beautiful quizz, surely from the mind of Professor Nack Moriarty.

You ask, "If the button were instead on White's 1pt or 3pt, would that alter Blue's best play?"

My answer is yes, noting that QF suggests that the correct answer to the question asked is 'yes', otherwise the question would not have been asked. Having failed to answer any quizzes in the past few weeks, possibly months, I hope you will indulge me with the satisfaction of finally getting one :0)

Now, I will consult my more brilliant friend at 221b Baker Street and hopefully return with a more complete response.
