Cube error rates

If you miss a cube by .05 and three shakes later you miss a cube by .15. Should you be graded on your largest error or the cumulative error? I think it should be the largest error. Why? Because the difference in MWC between someone that doubled correctly the first time and someone that missed both cubes is .15
Assume that two rolls after your second cube miss, it's no-double/take again. Then you, who missed both cubes, are even better off in MWC than someone who doubled correctly. Does that mean the missed doubles were no errors at all?
