That's my experience as well. Even OtB, how often do you see people wait before rolling, counting, etc. to decide if the position is gin? Faster just to roll, grab the checkers, etc.

There is another reason back when SW was used for determining error rate. The denominator in determining ER was ALL moves, regardless whether they had no equity (difference) value. I recall Kit recording one of my matches in 2002 when he actually put in rolls to finish the game even though (I'm pretty sure) the game was resigned earlier. He was trying to get me the best ER for that game that he could (and I needed it :).
