If you said that you were working to raise money to give free rides to kids with Leukemia to go Great America, and I responded: “Great America isn’t really going to help these kids and there are better things you can do with your money,” would that bother you?
I'm butting into the middle of the conversation here, but I will say that this would not bother me in the least. In fact, I would welcome it. I want to spend my money effectively. If someone can see that I am not spending my money effectively, I want them to tell me about it.
It doesn't bother me when others criticize me. Why should it? Who am I, some kind of saint who always knows what's best? Just because I have good intentions doesn't mean I'll always make wise decisions. In my opinion, other people already censor themselves too much for fear of offending people. If someone takes the risk of saying something that I might not want to hear, I am certainly not going to punish them by lashing back with a holier-than-thou attitude. Feedback like that is worth its weight in gold and I am going to do whatever I can to encourage it.
