The US rule just penalizes the player his deductible for the next move. I'm afraid the 30-second reserve penalty might be too harsh. I'd hate to have to watch someone lose on time because of an 'inadvertent' fast-grab near the end of a match when he is naturally trying to play quickly.

However, I do find this behavior especially annoying and correct the opponent from the first time it happens.

One thing that adds to the annoyance of fast rolling (clocks or not) as a left-handed player is that when I am picking up my dice, my arm tends to cover up my view of the sector where my opponent rolls. So when he is fast-rolling I generally can't see the dice come out of the cup and roll across the board; giving a 'mechanic' a better chance to pull something fancy.
