Win in the same year (just examples) the World Backgammon Championship, the Nordic Open and the Japan Open - if those are the three biggest events of the year and are attended by the most experienced players. Otherwise, choose other events, or create others, and stage the three events as the Triple Crown of Backgammon. I think that one of these would have to be in the USA, maybe at the Vegas Open.

The Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Horse Racing has only been won 11 times - the first was in 1919 and the last time it was won was 1978 - 33 years ago.

If such a Triple Crown of Backgammon existed - I wonder how long it would take before someone accomplishes the feat but it would surely attract more players to the events.

I think the third of the Crowns would be a very exciting those years that someone wins the first two Crowns - which would happen more often, maybe one or twice every decade.

To make it more possible to win, another idea would be to have a side event at three big events calling them, using the example above, the Monte Carlo Crown, the Danish Crown and the Japanese Crown.

These should have a hefty entry fee to keep it, as much as possible, an event for top pros with low error rates - in other words meaningful of who the best players are (although it could be open to anyone who thinks he is).

But to make it more complicated, and thus again, more meaningful, part of the structure should be, you must pre-register and pre-pay to play in all three events.
