Pure idoicy but fans with a very short term attn. span seem to like this sort of all or nothing. I certainly won't like it when my team would've been wild card under the old system but now loses one game to a team that finished a couple of game behind it for the wild card under the old system.

Under the old system, there was sometimes a playoff bcuz teams tied anyhow.

I never liked the old system of first rd being only best of 5, but then again, baseball has to end sometime before it snows.

At least baseball doesn't really cheapen the playoff by allowing about 1/2 the teams in like basketball and hockey. Especially in basketball, the teams at the bottom of the playoff tier have no real chance.
