Explanations welcome

I thought I mentioned it more strongly in my original post but everything when deciding how to pay here comes down to timing. Moving a checker forward or backward even a seemingly small amount will affect how soon that player crashes or has to run off his anchor. It's like a prime v. prime position to a point, the smallest spare adjustment can make a clear difference.
