1) Hitting both is my first instinct, but I think I like slotting both 5 points better. 13/8 seems a bit passive, but sometimes the quiet play is best. Here, the midpoint is begging to be unstacked, so that favors 13/8. Magriel's safe v bold criteria favor a safe play. The thing is, it's early, blue has no development, and putting a 4th checker on the 8pt doesn't really address the candlestick problem.

I'll go for 24/20 6/5*. Mix it up and see what happens.

2)Making the bar point gives blue a holding game and about 50% gwc. I think hitting and making the 20 gives more equity than that. D also looks better than P, but I'll take the golden point. 22/20 13/11*
