In Response To: DMP average error rate (Iancho Hristov)

He he, I'm not hurt nor am I offended in any way :-)

Evidently I'm not an English native, that might be the problem.

Let me expain my post:

You mention A-Team and B-Team, clearly having some players in mind, that you didn't think was A-Team.

I just wanted to point out, that there is a difference of who international players consider Danish A-Team, and who Danish players consider Danish A-Team. And this year, the DK Team was put together partly based on input from DBgF members (who they would like to see play).

What caught my interest in your post, was that you didn't define A-Team or B-Team, and didn't really lend a clue to what made you put some players on the B-Team. Therefore one could draw the wrong conclusion, that it was due to the published error-rates from the matches.

I know you track PRs from online play, and have a very thorough understanding of a lot of player's abilities, but you will also have some holes there I guess - some players you don't know, who can come out and surprise you. Personally I had hopen to see one of our unknown new-comers on the team this year: Freddie Noer. He played in the main event - I have so far just seen one of his replays, and in that he posted a 3.45 (WC) in a 17-pointer vs. Cockerell.

----

Anyway, when I consider A-Team and B-Team, I understand the terms like the best team available, and the 2nd best team available. A relative measure, not an absolute one. Thus, for some of the participants on the DK team this year to be B-Team, they must have taken up a seat from a player who was A-Team, but didn't attend. I agree that Elken and ACO are strong, but I'm not confident that they are significantly stronger than say Mik and Tue. Not in live play at least - I don't know what numbers you have on these players from online play.

I'm not sure you view A- and B-Team the same way?

My point is, that in DBgF I think there are few real superstars that play super strong, but there is a big pool of players just a notch after - and no matter which players you select from that pool, someone will think you should have selected differently :-)
