Years ago Backgammon Masters was helping to sponser some ABT events with some added money. They also would put $25 into your account to play with if you signed up for an acct. I did that and after a while I had over $500 in the acct and was then playing for higher stakes. (I think it was maxed at $7.50/pt with a limit of 4 pts a game...so each game's max win/loss was $30..ie something that allowed me to gamble a bit while passing the time and hoping to play well).
Anyhow, many players would quit me after 1-3 games, presumably realizing that I wasn't the fish they were hoping for. But some players would play me endlessly and while they made some small mistakes, they played quickly and I felt that they were about as good as I was. They never responded to me when I said something to them, and while I wasn't using anything at all related to my neilkaz name, I was at least curious who these great players were since it was clear to me that I had no real advantage and was simply going to be raked to death.
After this type of play came up twice at the end of two games I suspected something was amiss. Blue cleared his 5 pt rather than taking a checker off, noting that he could always save G next roll. Most humans don't play like that.

This type of thing convinced me that I was playing bots. What human instantly plays 5/1 5/2 here?
