Based on my understanding of a 43 backgame, the pipcount doesn't imply bad timing at all. To develop a reference position, start with a money game and move blue's spare around the board until you get a position which is a marginal double / pass. This is the position you need to remember. Now make a mental adjustment for the extra checker behind the prime which might not escape, the score and the extra timing blue has. They should add up to a big improvement for blue which means this is an obvious take given your new reference position.
